Trend Report: Petrella

One of the major shoe trends for spring and summer is the wedge, and for good reason: they're adorable, they're comfortable and while they are more casual than a stiletto, they're so easy to dress up, too! And what's great about the wedge trend is just how well it works with all of spring's other trends. So grab your own pair of the Petrella and have fun mixing and matching your way through the summer!

Trend Report: Biata

Spring fashion is full of trendsetting and fun looks this season, from acrylic jewels to flowery prints to neon yellow, well, just about anything. But the one spring trend that is the most flattering, the most universal, and the most timeless (i.e. full of value!) is the neutral color palette. These soft pastel tones look fantastic on absolutely everyone, and they're so chic and refined that no matter what the occasion you're dressing for, you'll be anything but boring! This season, the Biata in Ivory is the perfect shoe to carry you through a spring full of pretty neutrals, with it's Grecian-inpired gladiator design, creamy color and earthy-tan heel. Who needs acid yellow to stand out when you can knock 'em dead in these looks?

Trend Report: Peony

Nothing conjures up thoughts of spring quite like a bursting bouquet of peonies, natures most voluptuous and feminine flower. The name Peony, therefore, is quite fitting for this sweet wedge, with it's large blossom detail, light gold-flecked cork heel and buttery soft leather in a bright coral color. The Peony wedge, much like the peony flower, can't help but bring out the girly side of you. Pair this shoe with muted blush tones and neutral grays to look not only sophisticated, but undeniably charming!

Holiday Trend: Olina

The holidays seem to sneak up on us every year, don't they? The time between that last beach day of the summer and when the first department store holiday tree goes up seems to grow shorter and shorter every year. But now that the leaves have fallen, there's no denying it: the most wonderful time of the year is upon us - the time for good fun, good cheer and great parties!

No matter if you're hosting the family dinner or you've been invited to an elegant soirée, Söfft has all the fabulous holiday looks you'll need to keep you comfortable and effortlessly stylish. This season, instead of opting for the traditional holiday red, why not make a splash in something a little more unexpected? Show off sleek winter style in shimmering patent navy blue! The Olina is a classic slingback, making it easily transition from casual to dressy, and the sparkling sapphire hue gives some glamour to icy winter nights. Trend Report: Simola

There are a million things to love about fall, especially here in New England: beautiful foliage, perfect weather, pumpkin pie and, of course, boots. I never fear the weather turning a bit chillier because it means I can bring all my favorite boots out of their summer hibernation. This fall, the ankle boot reigns supreme, and mixed in with your pumps and knee-high boots, it adds another level of versatility to your wardrobe. The Simola gives you some of this season's hottest trends, like a rugged tread, high heel and burnished, distressed leather. Take a look at how this ankle bootie can give you multiple wardrobe options, and I'm sure you'll agree: there's a lot to love about fall!

Trend Report: Gallery

Last night I packed my suitcase for my End-of-Summer getaway to beautiful Martha's Vineyard, and as I was going through all my shoes, I realized something was very, very wrong: I don't own a pair of mary janes. How did this happen? I've got knee boots, ankle boots, thongs, ankle straps, platforms, slip-ons, slides, wedges, stilettos and flats. Not a single mary jane in sight. It's a shame, too, because it really is a perfect versatile shoe. It adds flirty and femine charm to any outfit and can easily be dressed up or dressed down. Well, luckily I work in the right place and will shortly be welcoming the Gallery into my shoe closet as my first pair of mary janes! But first, about that vacation...

Add Gallery to your shoe collection, too, and see just how many ways you'll find yourself wearing it!

At the Office
A structured dress and fashionable black tights are a stylish pair with the layered Gallery.

On the Town

Trend Report: Petra

When you think of the word "neutral", what comes to mind? Maybe things like blue jeans, Switzerland, and the way I feel about the Twilight phenomenon. But I bet most of you think black, brown and navy - the three dark hues that your mother told you go with absolutely everything. Well what about gold? If your favorite gold necklace works with whatever color top you wear, then so will a pair of gold shoes or a gold handbag. It's light, it's fun, it's sexy and best of all, it really does go with everything - just like our Petra shoe. The soft, shimmering gold leather is the star here, sitting pretty atop a unique wedge. So before you reach for another black sandal, or shy away from a metallic shoe for fear you'll never find a chance to wear it, take a look at how one bold, gold shoe can make any outfit shine.

Trend Report: Nolla

We've had a lot of rain here in the Northeast over the past few weeks. I mean, a lot. When you wake up in the morning to a steady drizzle on the 7th consecutive day, your spirits inevitably dive into a free fall and you find yourself contemplating how much you would be willing to give up to move to Bali. It gets bad when you start to forget what a blue sky looks like. But just yesterday, we were all reminded of the season we're supposed to be experiencing right now, when the clouds broke for the first time and I couldn't believe it, a ray of sunshine actually shot down from the sky. I was so shocked that I was temporarily blinded in my car and when I reached for my sunglasses realized I'd left them at home because I getting used to driving at noon with my headlights on. Well, not anymore! And just in time, too, because I've put together some outfits that absolutely epitomize summer. The Nolla wedge is truly a closet staple, something that's simple and comfortable but with a certain flair that allows you to dress it up or keep it casual. And I picked the hottest color, a patent leather red, to show you that even a bold shoe can look great with many different looks! Now that we've bid farewell to the stormy weather, you can be sure I'll be wearing my summer wedges in celebration all weekend long.

Trend Report: Riona

Phew. It's been a long week for everyone here at Söfft. We just got back from New York for the Spring 2010 FFANY trade show where we spent a lot of time setting up, running around, stressing out, showing off the shoes, and then breaking it all down. But in our downtime, we got to check out the crowded streets of Manhattan where, I'm proud to announce, gladiator sandals were on almost every woman's feet, from the casual shoppers to the working woman to the girl out for a night on the town. Lucky for me, I brought my Rionas in the Off White python print. I got so many compliments from strangers from the airport all the way to dinner. In fact, I had a hard time wearing any of my other shoes, and trust me, I brought enough for a new pair-a-day. By the end of the week, I had matched every outfit I packed with my Riona sandals. And to top it all off, they're functional: I even helped the guys load up the truck in them. Not that I recommend everyone do that in these shoes. But I speak from experience when I say that you'll be able to walk for miles and pull off the biggest fashion shoe trend of the summer at the same time. And don't be afraid of that sexy python print - see how well this shoe pairs with a variety of hot summer outfits!

Trend Report: Faye

I'm of the belief that every woman needs a pair of stilettos. Nothing, nothing, makes your legs look leaner and your back look straighter than a pair of high heels. However, nothing, nothing, makes your feet hurt more. So stilettos are not your everyday attire. I only bring mine out when I know I will spend a solid portion of my night in a seated position, while people get me drinks and some tasty passed apps (if I'm nice, of course). That said, I'd like to introduce you to the Faye - a super sexy leather slide with a hint of a heel. This is the type of shoe you can wear all summer long, every day, and still look your most fashionable. It's a girl's best friend, in hot colors, glossy patents and complete with those shining gold accents. In fact, you may never want to see a strappy-stiletto-device again, and for that, your feet will thank you. Take a peek at how the sleek patent-white Faye works with summer's hot looks:

Fashionable Flash - ARIZONA

We're lucky to live in one of the most diverse countries on the globe, where the food, geography, customs and traditions vary almost state to state. Fashion is also a major element of diversity in the U.S., and it's always fun to see who's wearing what, and where (how's that for alliteration?).

This week, our Fashionable Flash comes in from ARIZONA. Looks like the rainbow of desert colors in the Southwest are having quite an effect on Southwestern fashion. This week, Arizona reports that bright colors are huge for spring. The Faye in Salmon, the Fiji in Multi and the Riona in Turk are flying off the shelves. All this good news coming in from the desert, well, that’s just hot.

A Shoe for Every Trend

Confession: Sometimes, shopping is a royal pain. Why is it that when I’m looking for something specific (like the perfect pair of black pants you never have to dry clean OR iron AND magically repels stains…) it somehow ceases to exist? Those spur-of-the-moment quick trips usually result in far too many impulse buys and I’m left with a lot of things to return and a lack of sensible things to wear. And when I flip through the pages of a magazine to find out what’s hot and what needs to be banished from my closet for being So Last Year, I’m immediately overwhelmed at the thought of shelling out my hard earned cash for things that certainly will be “out” in a few short seasons. I’ve taken a strong liking to grocery shopping recently. Let’s face it, the things I buy there are a sure bet and are never around long enough to be considered “out of style” (if things like broccoli and Cinnamon Toast Crunch were ever really “in” to begin with…).

But I’ve come up with a solution to the stresses of shopping. I’m sure everyone is being a bit more mindful of their spending these days and it pays to stretch a trend as far as it can go without stretching your wallet at the same time. So while pouring over the latest round of what’s hot and what’s not with my trusty companions Elle, Vogue, InStyle and Bazaar, I realized that there's an easy way to get the hottest looks with just one crucial key piece. I’ll give you a hint: it starts at your feet. That’s right, your shoes! In the next few weeks, I’ll show you how to take one pair of Söfft shoes and match it to all the new and stylish trends. Hopefully, this will alleviate some of your shopping woes as well; I know that I’m looking forward to moving beyond the frozen food aisle and into an actual clothing store.

This week’s spotlight is on the Solis in Dark Brown, a low-heeled Gladiator style. Check out how versatile this look can be!
