Trend Report: Sion

For those of us who have been wearing (and loving) clogs for years, it's time to come out of the shadows and rejoice, because clogs are finally getting their moment in the fashion spotlight.  I'm sure we all have that pair of shoes that we keep hidden under our bed, the pair you reach for when you're running out to get the mail or pick up milk at the store, praying you won't run into anyone you know for fear of (gasp!) being seen in an un-trendy pair of shoes!  Well your clogs no longer have to be banished to the back of the closet, nor do you have to fear a fashion faux pas when leaving the house again.  Clogs are functional, comfortable, and finally, fashionable.  Find your clog style in the Sion, a studded modern slip-on with a sexy high heel to take you from the office all the way to a night out!

Trend Report: Stockholm

Fall Getaway Fashion

When the leaves are changing and the temperature is dropping, there's no better time to put on a cozy jacket, a warm scarf and zip up some majorly fashionable boots.  This season we're loving the Stockholm boot, the perfect mix of rugged charm (with that lug sole and oiled leather!) and hip-chic (buckles buckles buckles!) and we're finding that this stunner seems to fit perfectly with our fall weekend-getaway wardrobe!  It's a good thing too, because with the way we pack, there might not be room left in our weekend bags for any other shoes...

Trend Report: FABLE

I'm sure every girl has wanted, or still wants, her own pair of ruby slippers.  Ever since Dorothy clicked her heels three times and those sparkling red shoes flashed across the screen, a love affair with red shoes was born.  While you may not be able to pull off sequin covered red heels everyday, the Fable mary jane can give you a pretty close look with it's sweet style and shimmering red patent leather.  And what better look to pair with red shoes than the classic leopard print, which is turning out to be a hot item for fall!

Trend Report: Amalfi

The term 'fashion-forward' usually implies a look that is new, edgy, perhaps even 'out-there'. But sometimes, after always trying to come up with the next big thing, fashion takes a break and lets the past do the work from them. That's exactly what happened on the runways for fall, where we saw the resurgence of prim and proper looks inspired by 1950's. Hey - if it ain't broke, don't re-design it! So go ahead and dress like a lady with polished skirts and dresses, top-handle bags and the Amalfi, a refined and classic pump with a feminine bow. Now if only we could bring back the days of drive-ins, jukeboxes and ice cream counters...

Designer Spotlight: 3.1 Phillip Lim

Phillip Lim always seems to get it right, striking the perfect balance between new and exciting fashion and practical, wearable design. For fall, he was on-board with the minimalist and neutral trend, creating looks with luxurious layering and sleek lines. Of course, it wouldn't be a true Phillip Lim show without a flash of sequins...and who isn't in LOVE with those amazing coats?!? I can think of some perfect compliments to these outfits in some of Söfft's detailed suede styles, namely the Rilato, the Ophelia and the Stockholm. Check out our top looks from his Fall 2010 line!

Trend Report: Verina

While in New York over the weekend, I saw a pair of girls walking down the street wearing outfits that, if had to summed up in one phrase, could only be described as 1985: Ode to the Legwarmer. There were all sorts of neon colors clashing, side ponytails bouncing and yes, the aforementioned legwarmers on proud display.

Fashion is a funny business - just when you think major style eras of the past have been locked in the industry vault forever, poof! they're back. But what can sometimes be a bit frightening to re-visit (um, the 80's? Already?!?), some styles are definitely worth a second try. This fall, the Victorian era was touched upon with elegant lace, ruffles, corset buttons and vintage silhouettes making strong statements on the runways. What was once probably considered stuffy and conservative now looks ultra feminine and charming. Luckily, Söfft was one step ahead of the style game and introduced the Verina, a patent-cap toed lace-up number that will have you asking why we ever stopped wearing these styles in the first place! The metallic pewter color looks especially pretty when paired with flirty blush tones. So step a little further back in time, try on some vintage looks with the Verina, and let's leave the 80's back in the 80's for now. Trust me, they'll be back full force before we know it anway!

Trend Report: Bergamo

If you're lucky to live in the Boston area, like us here at Söfft, then you probably woke up to snow this morning, too. That's right, snow. On October 16th. Call me crazy, but instead of lamenting over the upcoming cold and dark months, I found myself getting a little excited because when the weather gets colder, things get cozier! There's nothing more comforting during winter than a cozy pair of boots and this year, the Bergamo is warming my heart...and my toes. It's such a versatile boot - I've worn it everywhere from dinners out on the town to apple picking to work, of course. Whether it still feels like fall where you are, or if you're starting to see the signs of winter, don't get left out in the cold and grab the Bergamo while it's still here - such a comfortable and stylish flat boot is one winter accessory you don't want to be without!

Trend Report: Fortuna

Ladies, I'd like to turn your attention now to the shining star of fall fashion this season: the shootie. What is a shootie? Well, it's a mix between a shoe and an ankle boot, and right now it's one of the hottest styles for your feet. It's edgier than a pump, but lighter than a knee-high boot and can be worn with everything from cocktail dresses to comfy denim. This season, Söfft created the Fortuna, the quintessential shootie, and I'm loving it in the patent black leather. It looks especially great with black tights or pants for an ultra-lengthening effect. So pick up a pair of these shimmering stunners, and get used to saying the word "shootie" because I have a feeling it's going to be hot for seasons to come, much like these very shooties!

Trend Report: Simola

There are a million things to love about fall, especially here in New England: beautiful foliage, perfect weather, pumpkin pie and, of course, boots. I never fear the weather turning a bit chillier because it means I can bring all my favorite boots out of their summer hibernation. This fall, the ankle boot reigns supreme, and mixed in with your pumps and knee-high boots, it adds another level of versatility to your wardrobe. The Simola gives you some of this season's hottest trends, like a rugged tread, high heel and burnished, distressed leather. Take a look at how this ankle bootie can give you multiple wardrobe options, and I'm sure you'll agree: there's a lot to love about fall!

Trend Report: Gallery

Last night I packed my suitcase for my End-of-Summer getaway to beautiful Martha's Vineyard, and as I was going through all my shoes, I realized something was very, very wrong: I don't own a pair of mary janes. How did this happen? I've got knee boots, ankle boots, thongs, ankle straps, platforms, slip-ons, slides, wedges, stilettos and flats. Not a single mary jane in sight. It's a shame, too, because it really is a perfect versatile shoe. It adds flirty and femine charm to any outfit and can easily be dressed up or dressed down. Well, luckily I work in the right place and will shortly be welcoming the Gallery into my shoe closet as my first pair of mary janes! But first, about that vacation...

Add Gallery to your shoe collection, too, and see just how many ways you'll find yourself wearing it!

Trend Report: Seville

Is there anything more classic than a black flat? Along with a trench coat, a little black dress and tube of red lipstick, it should be a building block of a woman’s wardrobe. Its image alone conjures up thoughts of Audrey Hepburn, Coco Chanel and more recently, Carla Bruni, three women who could make a space suit look like couture. You really can’t ask for more in a shoe – it’s comfortable, it’s wearable and it looks so effortlessly stylish. The Seville in black even gives you a little extra, with its slight kitten heel, polished chrome buckle and that shimmer of black patent leather across the toe. And unlike those other shoe basics of your closet (ahem, strappy evening sandals or pointed pumps that pinch!) you can rest assured that the black flat can take you from day to night while keeping you comfortable. And you can also rest assured that they will never go out of style. Come again? Super comfortable and forever stylish? You can bet that I’ll be finding a million ways to wear these when the weather turns cooler, and that shouldn’t be too hard at all: check out the different outfits below!

At the Office
The Seville works wonders with preppy office basics like pencil skirts and button down shirts.
Skirt, Versace; Shirt, Thomas Pink; Sweater, Top Shop; Belt, Alexander McQueen; Earrings, Juicy Couture; Bracelet, White House|Black Market; Bag, Kooda

On the Town
Seville gets the glamour treatment for night time with a sparkly top and shining accessories.

Gearing up for Fall

It’s August already, which means we’re in the dog days of summer and it can be hard to beat the heat. It’s when most people take off on a summer vacation, which would explain traffic easing up a bit, but it also means the city streets become a ghost town. It’s also a little bittersweet since it’s the last stretch of summer, before school begins again, normal schedules resume and before the chill comes back into the air. But here at Söfft, we’re already one step ahead of the game. While everyone else is enjoying the remainder of these summer days, we’re bypassing August in favor of daydreaming about fall (I think the frigid air conditioning really helps). Fall fashion is my favorite – I love the heavier textures, the darker colors and all the layering. I feel the same way about breaking out the knee-high boots that a lot of people feel about putting on flip flops for the first time in warmer weather. Last week, we launched our Fall 2009 Collection, and now I’ve got some fresh ideas for how to wear our hottest shoes. This season, we’ll take a look at how a shoe can carry you through your week, from the office to a night out to more casual looks for any occasion. These Söfft styles can be so versatile, you’ll be amazed at the many different ways you can wear them!

Up first, the Gazelle in a sultry crimson suede. This shoe is a real eye-catcher, with it’s oversized straps that hug the foot and shiny patent piping along every edge. It begs to be shown off with skirts and dresses, but even pairs well with elongating pants thanks to its subtly sexy peep toe. This is the quintessential transition shoe to get you ready for the cooler weather on the way!

At the Office

The Gazelle is a great transition shoe to start getting back into your fall work wear. Show off these sultry shoes with a skirt and bold complementary jewelry.
Blouse, Lord & Taylor; Skirt, Vince; Bag, Tods; Earrings, Swarovski; Necklace, White House|Black Market

On the Town

Pair the chunky Gazelle with a flirty cocktail dress for instant night-time style.
